The idea behind this material is to get students used to using computers to find information to help them answer questions. You can think of it as teaching students how to use an application package to meet objectives, rather than teaching Computer Studies or Computer Science.
The IRIS materials are designed to introduce the concepts of information processing — searching and querying data using the ICL FIND-2 software package. Think of it as a database with a query language.
